In the U.S. normally you would graduate from high school at about the age of 18 or so. You would have proficiency in English, mathematics (probably including geometry solid geometry, algebra and trigonometry) biology, chemistry and perhaps physics. You would also have had world history, U.S. history, civics, and a number of electives covering a broad range of subjects.

Your last year of high school you would test for proficiency in basics for English, math, etc.

Your first year or two of college you would make up any deficiencies in the basics, and complete pretty standard lower division classes in things like social sciences, hard sciences, second language, political science, geography, geology etc. etc. If you are lucky, you will have an adviser who can help you choose the right courses. The third and fourth years in college you will concentrate on classes leading to a premedical degree, the bulk of you specialized classes will take place at that time. At some point after the first two years, and perhaps after four you will have to get into a medical school.

Somebody else can probably give you better detail, but I hope this helps a little.

You will have to get into premed school first. They have alot of grants out there. Try to write to some of the Universities and we have alot of them. Please excuse some of the people on this site, they can get brutal and very rude, Galveston Texas has a teaching hospital, U.T.M.B. ( University of Texas Medical Building) It is a teaching, but you will have to learn how to get into premed school first.
