That's correct, but they probably want 4 x p + 8 (simplified).

No, the answer would be -2. 4(p+2) would be as you gave in your question, but the 4xp becomes 4p+ 4x2, which becomes 4p+8, subtract 8 from each side leaving 4p=-8, divide both sides by 4 to get p isolated, and p=-2

Yes. Multiply out 4 times 2 which is 8 and usually the x is not needed with a number and a variable; you can write it like this:

4p + 8

This problem is easy when you have parentheses around things like that all you have to do is multiply the numbers by the umber in front of it.
In this problem you just have to multiply 4 times p and 2 which gives you 4p+8

Yes if the x = multiply.
So the simplified answer would be 4p+8.

4(p + 2)= 4p+8

it's not a good idea to use "x" foe multiplication because it is used as a variable. That's why we use "*" for multiplication. You did the problem correctly, but yo uprobably want to carry out the multiplication. 4*2=8

yes just clean it up a bit eh? it would be 4p+8. and if "p" was a number then you could add it to the number first. i.e. 4(1+1)= 4(2)

4(p + 2)= 4*p + 4*2 = 4p + 8

i dont see where you get the x from , there is no x and that is completely ok. upui dont have to invent an x i

Given a set S and two binary operations • and + on S, we say that

• is left-distributive over + if, given any elements x, y, and z of S,
x • (y + z) = (x • y) + (x • z);
• is right-distributive over + if, given any elements x, y, and z of S:
(y + z) • x = (y • x) + (z • x);
• is distributive over + if it is both left- and right-distributive.

4 • (p + 2) = (4 • p) + (4 • 2)
= 4 p + 8
