You know like the old fashioned metal swingsets and merry-go-rounds and teeter-totters? The kinds neighborhood parks use to have. I personally think that those were much more fun then the new stuff they have today. Dose anyone like the older stuff verses the newer stuff? Or is my family and myself the only ones who like them? Yeah I know that alot of states have taken them out due to insurance rates cause everyone is afraid of getting sued now days or because handicapped children cant go on those kind of stuff. Yeah i feel bad for them and they should have stuff to play with maybe just for them but dont take away the fun for other children who can play on the oldfashioned playgrond equipment. Does anyone know what im talking about and like the older playground equipment? Whats your opinion? Thanks.

Children are to fragile these days for such toys. People act like kids will break if they have such fun...

We lived through these toys...like you said probably because people do not take responsibility for themselves these days but are sue happy.

old equipment doesn't last as long and many children die or are hurt while playing on it. Merry-go rounds and teeter-totters knocked children's teeth out and given them concussions and broken bones (I'm one of them). Metal change swings pinch fingers and catches hair and clothing in chain links sometimes seriously injuring or killing the child. In the winter metal is slippery and in the summer it is almost on fire and causes burns. Wood breaks and splinters with age causing children to fall or have wood pieces in their body and infections from bacteria living in the wood. After a rainy week wood playgrounds and trees have mold or algae growing on it. many children like my brother are allergic to mold. If a child pees or gets blood on the wood how do you sanitize that? With plastic you can easily clean and sanitize the equipment. I would say the new playgrounds are safer and last longer then the old equipment.

I completely agree with you. I always loved the older play equipment. The old wooden one that gave splinters was so much more fun than the new, shiny, rainbow one at school. Then they tore it down and I cried. Well, I was only 6.
