Do you believe in the "glass ceiling" affect? If not, why is there a lack of women and minorities as CEOs?

Some believe women/minorities lack the motivation or will to become a CEO, or possibly just have different priorities than white men. Others think there are invisible barriers to their success. I am writing a paper about this for a class and would love your input!

I believe there's still an aspect of the glass ceiling affect, but you also have to realize that women and minorities in business and politics is still very new. Most CEO's are in their upper 50's and were educated and started their careers when it was not as socially acceptable for women or minorities to be pursuing those same careers.

There are much larger numbers of minorities and women in middle and senior management, give us some time, we'll take over the execs too.

I don't think women/minorities lack the motivation or will to become CEOs. For women, we still live in a male dominated society where men have always been the ruling sex. There are more women CEOs than ever before, we just have to catch up. I don't think there are invisible barriers, but I think it some aspects of business, women have to work harder to be considered equal.

If you google "Women's History Month" it will give you a springboard for LOTS of different essays, articles, etc. to read through for your paper. Also remember, that in the U.S., there's never been a female president but a lot of other countries have women leaders. A lot of the struggles of both minorities and women are cultural.
