I had a thought - I don't know if it's an original idea, but what if there have been previous universes that have been destroyed by something like an anti-Big Bang where everything is destroyed and converted back to the particle mass that was the origin of our current universe? Maybe it's a cycle. Maybe there have been millions of universes, maybe not all had life, maybe many did... oh the possibilities are endless.

That's interesting that you say this because about 13 years ago I wrote almost this same thought down in a journal. I was talking about this with a friend. We wondered if the world had existed previously and had come to an end and then started up again, cycling like this constantly. If so, had we lived this life before and could this be a version of past lives?

I always liked what Stephen Hawking once said, "Asking what came before the Big Bang is like asking what's north of the north pole."

I think so. It's hard to believe that the universe's supposed pattern of exploding and imploding started with us.
