Mike Comrie because he's been through so much diversity in his life. He's an awesome hockey player. He gets up in all the action. Fights when he needs to. Scores the goals and makes the plays.

Also, Steve Yzerman has always been my fave. He's a very dedicated hockey player, man, and charity man.

Joe Sakic is totally on my high list. He can do everything.

Shane Doan is the best all around player. He scores awesome goals, makes the plays, the best captain, and a very very nice guy. Gotta meet him to know!

Fav player of all time: Scott Stevens
He is the all time master of the open ice check. Everyone who isn't a Devils fan hates him because at one point or another he has slammed one of your favorite players into the ice. He's that dam good. If you want to go by achievements, 3 Stanley Cups and a Conn Smythe have "Hall of Fame worthy" written all over em.

Current: John Madden
The most under-appreciated defensive forward in the league. He has won 2 Cups and the Selke trophy with the Devils. Madden even took a puck to the face last week and still came back to score the game winning goal the very next game.

Jere Lehtinen. He is never mentioned when discussions like this come up but he has won the Selke three times now. He makes every line he is on better. He seems to always be in the right place at the right time for an assist or a block. A great two way player with great defensive skills and so clean (very few penalties) while putting bigger players off the puck.

Personally, my favorite player was cam neely. You wanted someone to lead your team, play hard every night, never back down from anyone, and score 50 goals while playing on the top line and protecting the other best players on the team. That's the true sign of a 'best player'. Someone that can thrive in all aspects of the game. Now a days its someone like an iginla, or shanahan, guys that do everything. Now here is another stat for you.... Cam Neely is third on the all time Points per game list for the playoffs. Now is he averages near a point a game over 93 games with 168 PIM. Total package, physical, scores, fights, checks, leads. That's a sign of one of the best of all time. Not saying he is the best, but his career was cut short and he deserves to be mentioned with the best.

Don't have a favourite per se, too many to mention over the years.....

Though as far as current players go, I love watching Crosby. The kid is electric.
He makes plays that only a few in the league can make, and make the opposition look stupid for trying to stop him.
Honorable mention is Forsberg, unfortunately dude's been hurt for a good part of his short career.
Being a fan of the Oil I also have to mention Hemsky. Great skater, great puck handler.
Vinny Lecavalier is a throwback to the old days of hockey. Love watching him play. Big, tough, doesn't mind being pushed around, scores in bunches.......I'd love to see him in a Habs' sweater one day.

Last but not least, Smyth. A mucker that can take the piss outta most goaltenders and d-men in the league. :)

Mark Messier because he led the Rangers to the Stanley Cup in 1994. He is the greatest captain ever. He is also the greatest Ranger ever. Even Ranger's legend Rod Gilbert said it. He guaranteed victory in the 1994 Stanley Cup and he scored the Championship winning goal. If it wasn't for him, Ranger fans like myself would still hear the chants "1940." He will always be my favorite player.

My favorite player is Martin Straka. I started watching him in the early 90s on the penguins. When he went back to the penguins in the late 90s he was really in his prime. He had incredible speed and quickness and great playmaking ability. The best part about him was how useful he was in any situation. His quickness made him an outstanding penalty killer, and also played D on the Powerplay. Very skilled and unselfish player.

I would have to go with my favorite of all time being Brett Hull, simply because he was a one-timer machine and held nothing back when he spoke.

Currently I would have to say Evgeni Malkin. I liked him since before the Pens drafted him. I wished that the Pens would not win the lottery so they would pick him. I had watched video of him playing in Russia and he was absolutely brilliant. Seeing him night in and night out is really a treat.

Mine has to be Sidney Crosby. The kid is phenomenal! He sees goal opportunities that people can't even imagine. This season he has 26 goals and 95points. Everyone knows that he and the pens are gonna make a hell of a run for the playoffs and that he is only going to keep amazing everyone with more goals and points yet to come! He, in my mind, really is "The Next One".
