My friend had knee and hip surgery some time back and she is very happy with the results. However, she was double your age at the time. I'm not a doctor so I can't recommend what will be best for you. But I would like to mention that my friend (who lived in the Us) went to India for her surgery. She had a great experience there and came back happily and fully recovered.
She hooked up with a medical tourism company called Healthbase (http://www.healthbase.com) that connected her to a highly accredited hospital. They have some excellent hospitals and very experienced surgeons overseas (India, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico and some Central and South American countries) who are able to fix your problem for much less as compared to the US (becoz of low labor costs). Even before taking off for India, my friend was able to correspond with the surgeons. She sent them her scans and reports and stuff and they told her what her problem really was and what treatment she needed. Check them out. Who knows, they might be able to help you and that too for much cheaper.
Good luck!!

you are young and if the knee is that much damaged I would wait it out and see,,your probably not done really growing yet and if they do a surgery it won't really help,,your going to always have problems with that knee so get used to the idea,,,,Myself have bad knees and had the cartilege repaired but still have the grinding and poping noises after,,so I don't think it will ever be right and I'm 42,,and do not want knee replacemant,,am to young for that now anyway,,,so grin and bear yours might bacome stronger as you grow and the knee may regain the strength it once had,,just wait it out a few more years and see how it goes,,good luck

I think you'll need the surgery especially with the pain. Most knee dislocations do serious damage to the ligaments and cause complications later on, surgery usually helps with this. You should try online classes in the meantime ;)

The price of knee surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your knee joint surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Knee Joint surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps
