A baby’s first breath usually happens at birth when he begins to cry that is why the first cry of the baby is very imp. While in the womb, his or her lungs are filled with fluid and are not involved in supplying oxygen to his body. Baby gets his oxygen from the mother, via the umbilical cord.

Hi,

A baby does not breathe inside the mother. When they emerge from the womb, they make their first attempt to breathe. The baby gets its needed oxygen from the blood through the umbilical cord.

Babies need not breathe like us adults. Whatever oxygen they require is supplied to them through their mothers' blood via the umbilical cord.

But after birth, as soon as the umbilical cord is snapped, the baby has to start breathing on its own. With this independent breathing, a new prana is activated in the baby. Now the baby's prana (life force) vibrates independent of the mother's prana.

That is why in Astrology the time of birth is so important. (Modern scientists do not understand this!!)

It is a beautiful and poetic moment........ when the baby takes his first breath....... and becomes an independent human being !

My eyes still get filled with tears of joy whenever I watch this beautiful process. A wonder of God's inscrutable Creation !!!

Anyway, good question.
Keep it up !

A baby when he or she is growing within the mother's womb dont breathe like adults cos their lungs are not fully developed, the lungs start functioning after the baby is born thats why the first cry of the baby after the baby is born is so imp cos it makes the lung functioning, whereas the oxygen that the developing baby requires in the mother's body is provided by the mother's blood that flows in the circulation of the baby :)

A baby receives the oxygen it needs to survive through the blood that travels through the umbilical cord connected to the mother...the baby doesn't 'breathe' yet, as the lungs do not require a separate oxygen source...a danger in pregnancy and/or labour can be when the umbilical cord is twisted/kinked and the baby does not receive enough oxygen, resulting in brain damage

HOW DOES A FETUS BREATHE?
"I am wondering how the baby breathes while in the amniotic fluid? How can the baby breathe in water?"

Many people ponder this, as I get this question from time to time. The answer is: he/she doesn’t. A baby’s first breath usually happens at birth when he begins to cry. While in the womb, his lungs are filled with fluid and are not involved in supplying oxygen to his body. Baby gets his oxygen from the mother, via the umbilical cord. He also gets his nutrients from mother the same way. This is why it is important that a pregnant mother eats healthy food, and breathes healthy air (i.e. don’t smoke).

No, the baby is in a sac while in the womb. The baby oxygenated blood from its mother via the placenta and the cord.
