My 6th grade teacher made us learn about politics !! lol. . . yeah, she made us . We had the fortune of having her AGAIN in 7th grade, because she got moved to the 7th grade . By then, she required us to have a subscription to TIME magazine . She wanted/forced us to learn about world affairs as well . She also made us campaign for a local aldermanic candidate, but we could pick the candidate that we thought would be good . Little did we know, that she was teaching us some of the most important information of our lives . By high school, we had to have subscriptions to TIME and NEWSWEEK . And we were required to debate issues that were local, national, and international . And by then, I loved it .
Well, that was 35 years ago, and I've been a glutton for political information since ? So, yes, I do research all candidates, and I vote according to their stance, views and record !!!

I don't always read their autobiographies, but I definitely check their voting records. Some favorite sources include the League of Woman Voters and Project Vote Smart.

I go to hear them speak and speak to them when possible. Depending on the amount of public service they have done I check their record on how they vote on issues that are important to me, also how often they actually vote.
Presidential elections might be rigged now maybe even house and senate, but I will continue to vote, at the polls until it is completely evident that I must vote with a gun.

At this point, a potted plant or a goldfish would be superior to what we have running the White House. Opinion aside, when most of the world thinks Iran and Syria are morally superior to Bush and Cheney we have gone way past research. Even if most of the world is wrong, Bush and Cheney still scare the hell out of most sane people. Do you know how insane you have to be to scare a guy like Qaddafi? W. and his pet vampire Cheney really will stop at nothing to get what they want, including nuking Iran to stop them from getting a nuke. What kind of world is Bush leading?

I should probably do more... but I usually try to find prior voting records and previous stances...

and look into their past lives... read news stories, look around online and such... autobiographies would be nice to read, but I don't usually do all that...

I also like to look at their platforms, which many have started posting online... large documents with in-depth plans of what they want to do.... especially in larger national campaigns...

I could care less what the popular opinion is ..
I research the candidates to see how they've voted in the past and and compare that with what they claim when running.

It's scary to think that voters don't research candidates before casting their vote. Yes, I definitely do my research. You can't rely on public opinion.
