I'm curious as to what the history of the place is, both good and bad. Would City Hall or the local library be the best place to go? Or someplace else?

The house was built 70 yrs prior to the rest of the neighborhood so no one who lives nearby currently has knowledge of anything going on there prior to the last 15 yrs.

Go to the Records Clerk at the County Court House. You will have to tell them what you need - you will need to have the address and your I.D. They will help you research it through the property records. (I used to do this for a living - at an Abstract company. LOL)

From there - you will have the names of the families who have lived and owned your place. Then you will need to look up their names at the Court House (and from there it is a crap shoot) You will have to try to find them by phone books, internet, etc.

Also another way is to ask your neighbors who have been there a long time about the house. Sometimes you will get a wealth of info that way.

Also look up in the attic for old photos, letters, etc.

Good luck!

Call the local government office to find where the public records for your city are stored.
