when he verbally anhialated Jerry Espinson? I've always felt Alan did the wrong thing for the right reason but not tonight. On the other hand, it would explain why he hasn't any long-lasting relationships. What do you think?

You guys are so nice! To me, I felt this was completely out of character for Alan. Like walking in and seeing Denny Crane reading a liberal rag while eating tofu and steamed veggies with NPR on in the background.

Alan has always appeared to me to be someone who does the wrong thing for all the right reasons. I felt he had some level of compassion and integrity. Sort of his own moral code.

I think he could have handled the situation with Jerry in a million different ways but he chose to just cut him off at the knees and set his therapy back about 10 years after carefully nurturing and building him up.

I LOVE James Spader, LOVE Denny Crane but I feel they totally ruined the Alan Shore character last night.

Oh - that's the other thing that struck me as odd. As a liberal, Alan always makes fun of Denny for being harsh to strangers yet Alan can rip the heart out of one of his best friends?

They certainly made the case for conservative Republicans!

He thought he was going to lose. He did what he had to do to win (or in this case settle) - as a lawyer that is what he does. He expecially didn't want to lose to Jerry. He did feel remose after, which is also consistent with his character.

No one does the right thing all the time,

Alan Shore did exactly what any lawyer would do...undermined the opponent. Alan knew exactly what he was doing, he didn't like it, but that's the job. He did what he thought he had to do to win the case. I feel that he felt sorry for Jerry, & took it a little too hard - because Jerry was becoming quite confident whereas he shouldn't be - he hasn't been doing this (as big a case as this was for him) too long.

By the way, James Spader is Awesome!!!!!!!!!

He is a shrewd lawyer and his character came out when he was facing an old friend.
