Me and my friend play that game. THe game is fun and is "a waste of time" like any other game. There is an end to the game but it is not the usual ending where everything is resolved you just get to the top level and keep battling against the other world. They already made one expansion and I think that they will make more. In the game you go on quests for different people and you play against or with other players not a computer in which all the characters do the same thing. You only get addicted if you are a idiot and play games all the time anyway so instead of playing many games all the time someone "addicted" might just play world of warcraft.

This is the first time I'm answering a question, where all the other answers are ridiculously idiotic. Yahoo! Answers can get addicting too, and it doesn't end. What's the point of playing a piano, if that's not going to end. Stop when you feel like stopping. If you think it's dangerously addicting, then don't play it, or stop playing it when you get addicted. Get a social life. Otherwise, the game is fun as hell and is nice to do when you're at home and have a computer. Geez.

OKay, well, to the questions by the OP; No, and no. It's not a waste of time because I know several people who have long, hard days at work and would rather do something entertaining that they're apart of (Like WoW) rather than watch the "Boob Tube " as it's called.

Friendships, and even love can blossom from In-Game relations, I know of several couples who have met, and so gone on to marry one another because of meeting eachother on the game.

It doesn't get boring for most, because there is so much to do. There are easily thousands of things, like puzzles and math to even do. And yet, like other things, it can be boring, expecially when you're out "Farming". What most people don't get, though, is it's a game, like any other video game. Everyone's going to claim it's bad for you unless they like it, or they know other video games.

Besides, I'd rather sit home and play WoW than be out with underaged teenagers sitting there drinking alcohol and smoking just waiting to get caught by the cops.

The point of the game at first is to level your character to max. Then there is getting the best set of armor and raising honor points. By the time you finish that there is an expansion or you can start another character. It may seem like you are just repeating the same old things, but expansions always add new things to do.

ok, i was reading the answer people put, and as i saw, barely any of them have played it.
1. it never gets boring, Blizzard sends patches every few months with new quests and instances.
2. Addictive? yes and no. yes= some people can be addicted, but you can actually quit when you want, it only becomes a problem if it affects the health of the person or the lifestyle
no=

It's not for some. I don't play WOW but I have played Guild Wars for almost 2 years now. (My husband was addicted to EverQuest for many many years) Once you put that much time into your characters its hard to let them go. These types of games rarely get boring. My advice to you is to make a character, then you will have a better understanding of what makes your friend spend hours, days, months and years on the same game :-) good luck

It depends on the person. Back in the day I used to play Ultima Online not only is it entertainment playing it but you do a ton of interaction with other people. You make friends and form almost another world/life. Its not for everyone and what they get out of it varies.

Actually, there is so much to do in the game it keeps you constantly wanting to play. Not to mention the social factor with the game. You can acutally meet some pretty cool people.

I play and yes sometimes it does get boring but its a nice reliever for if ive had a bad day or i just want to play something and chat with friends...you meet new people with a similar interest and i suppose you have to be into fantasy games and such in order to enjoy it

its not a game, it's like another world. I personally think it is pointless and sucks the soul out of millions of people that used to have lives. It is as addicting as crack I hear, but I just never got into it. Elves mages spells potions, blah blah blah.
