"A" is an inference. You did not directly measure the temperature of the material to determine if it dropped. You inferred it from your other observations.

B, C, and D can all be observed when this demonstration is done in front of the class, but A cannot be determined without using a thermometer to actually measure the temperature before and after the demo.
