I am a beautiful 34 year old mother of 2. I have a voice that could stand alone and compete with the best of them, such as: Mariah, Celine, Whitney, etc. I am in the best shape of my life and I get standing ovations everywhere I sing. My question is I really want to sing like pop and r&b music and I really still like to dress sexy and I can dance with the best of them also. I have so much energy and personality and I feel that I can make with the right image. Do you think it's possible to set a standard for slighty older singers if I can still compete with the younger women? People usually think I'm anywhere between the ages of 24-27. I don't want to give up my dream and passion because of my age.

you are never too old to sing. it just depends on what audience you want. for instance, you can start singing in church or small events around time. most record companies want younger people so they could attract younger audiences since teenagers mostly buy cds and go to concerts. they basically want to make more money. so when this teenager or young adult gets older and older, they have the same audience following their career and even have different audiences. my advice is just be aware of the messages you are sending and the impact you can have on people's lives. make sure people can relate to it. a good example is mary j blidge. good luck!!!

If you have the talent you must sing. Hell there are singer much older than you, don't put yourself in the same category as the hootchie-flash-in-the-pan-mamas.
So you can't be on American Idol, big deal. Follow your bliss, and share your talent.

go on American Idol!,
go do anything you want, to let people know you got a good voice!
you can even go to Hollywood and just sing there!
just do it!

cuz i know kids in my class that are good

im only 13 and so are my classmates!!
so just go out there and show the world what you can do!
