sound card can't be found, I know it is installed, but I need to know how to correct it.

You need to install the driver for your sound card..

Do you have an HP? I recommend going to hp.com and asking their online tech support--it might take a few (or a lot) of tries, but they usually come up with the answer. Just don't accept the "It's not compatible and you need to buy a new one" (which could be the case) solution right away, and you'll find someone who can help.

EDIT: Don't you hate it when people get anal about your using the word "download" when you mean "upload"? We're not all computer geeks!

when installing a new OS like xp. you need to install the right drivers for it. if you know the type of pc it is. like a dell or a compaq and the model number.
you can usually goto the site and download the latest drivers. this includes the sound drivers.

What do you mean downloaded XP?

You have to use a cdrom to install it.
