Man is a bundle of energy.Energy comes to him though food. Food contains energy of Sun.In order to produce energy in the body, it needs oxygen. While liberating energy from food we also produce carbon dioxide and water. Plants produce energy though sunlight, water and carbon dioxide.
So, what you see is that we are linked to nature. Things are in motion. Work is therefore God. We justify our existence through work!
For you to say that when we are old we sit and snag is not correct. Old have the wisdom, which they pass on to the younger generation and make their life better. They have a long trail of work and achievement behind them for posterity to take advantage of. Every individual who is born will be old one day. So, you have to look upon them with reverence.

Why people work?
Merely to show-off the credentials accumulated in the course of our study, as testament for a better remuneration. Moreover, the rationale for working is essentially the want of experience and enjoyment. I guess when you started early, probably the initial five years of the working career is adhering to satisfaction alone. Personal craving or preference for whatever of materialistic will be forefront in the attainment.
The next five years will be a “rapport period” for the sake of promotion that associate with hard work and makeover that serve a prospect for the future. I believe life has never the intention of procreation, an obligation of mankind, but proving one’s worth in comparison with those in the working environment, which is a provocation to work even harder and smarter in the job of our choice.

when we are born we play because we are born free of everything and our minds are still not developed -when we are children we study to get enough wisdom and knowledge to understand what life is all about -when we are adults we work to stretch out to help our family grow finacially strong and inependant -when we are old we sit and nag because we have nothing really to do with passing our Time -Remember its the retirement Age -Ayesha Ahmed

If you observe carefully around you then you will understand each and every living thing is doing the karma of life. The day you stop doing karma you are on your way to extinction. Thats the way it goes. We could play when we were young because our part of karma was being taken care of by our parents. We could sit and nag when we will be old because the karma we did in our working age.

We play, becasue thats all we are capable of, we study so we can become some form of a functional adult. As adults we work to sustain all of our needs and to support our children while they are playing, and we sit and nag becasue people tend to forget us because we can no longer work and play!

Those who are involved in an perfecting their skill can often experience a heightened sense of being (flow) as described by Csikszentmihaly.
Work as important for three reasons:
- Produce goods and services for survival.
- Overcome our inborn egocentricity.
- Perfecting your skill for spiritual growth.
I highly recommend the following books:

We work so that we can live and provide for our family. Some people are lucky enough to find something that they love to do and make a living at it. Find your passion early in life and build upon it. Then read and talk to your high school counsellor, etc to find out how to put it to work for you. You get out of life what you put into it.
