Two Choices:

Playstation 3
Xbox 360

I have quite a bit of money to spend and I'd really like to buy one of these choices and also am getting a 40" hdtv. I've done a lot of research and there are obviously pros and cons for both. Which shall I get and why?? GOOD answers please I don't wanna hear about games cuz ps3 just came out 4 months ago so it's not level playing field there.

We have tested and accepted reviews on both systems As far as graphics are concerned they are both similar since the xbox has recently released a 1080 update allowing the 360 to display full 1080 on 1080 capable t.vs. prior to this update the 360 couldn't go 1080.

Playstation 3 does offer more out off the box than Xbox 360, and the PS3 network is free to owners of the PS3.
PS3 premium-60 gig
Blue Ray
True 1080 HiDef
PSP game share
The internal 60 gig hardrive- capable of storing Ps2 memorycard game saves.
Ability to hook up external hard drives-
Key board and mouse abilities
Surf anywhere on the net like any computer (PS3 Has it's own web browser)
Play games- Resistance Fall of Man- Motostorm(out in march)
Play all the Ps2 games if you have ps2

Xbox 360 Premium-
20 gig hard drive
Xbox live has fees but is great fun
Has Great game titles
1080 update available- but not blue Ray
No web Browser for internet browsing

Xbox 360 currently has more games available and Halo 3 is soon to be released.

Both offer WiFI connection to the internet Xbox needs pruchase of extra hardware to do so.

Not only are the games better for 360 but the 360 also has superior graphics and can function better on a high definition television than a ps3 can, blue ray for the ps3 isn't even worth it now since the blue ray players are going down in price and last I checked were cheaper than the ps3 itself... Wii would be a good alternative if you have less money as it is a fun experience with a few fun games for the system. But really spend your money on something worth it, get the 360...

BTW... the 360 had a strong launch lineup with smash hit titles on launch so just because ps3 launched 4 months ago doesn't mean their could not have been games to match up to some of the 360... But in the long run the 360 IS WORTH SPENDING MONEY ON.

What type of TV are you getting? The 720p/1080i or the 1080p. You didn't say.

If you're getting the 1080p, then go with the PS3 because you can get true digital 1080p with the HDMI. Might as well enjoy that big screen 1080p TV by watching Blu-ray movies, and playing PS3 games in digital 1080p.

There are a bunch of good games coming out for the PS3: Lair, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3.

If it's a 1080i TV, then it's up to you on which console you want to get. If you think you're going to be watching a lot of Blu-ray movies, then get the PS3. If you think you're going to be watching a lot of HD-DVD movies, then get the 360 with the HD-DVD player add-on.

If you got the money, then get both.

Take it from me, a fifteen 12 months previous teen. The PS3 is relatively costly and lacks stable video games. besides the undeniable fact that it does have a blu-ray dvd participant while you're vast on technologies and feeling a sprint egocentric. it relatively is basically a failed gadget. The wii is a huge type of relaxing simply by fact it makes use of action sensor technologies. this is large yet annoying to detect for despite reason (I advise annoying, except you're keen to dish out megabucks) and at your son's age, he might immediately start to detect lots of the video games infantile. it relatively is definetly an casual, kinfolk gadget. The Xbox 360 is the console I personnally very own. this is surely relatively surely worth the money. there are a number of large video games, yet notice: almost each and every of the video games are MATURE 17+ video games. i do no longer understand in case you enable your toddlers play those video games. for my area, they do no longer seem to be that undesirable in any respect. besides the undeniable fact that which you ought to to apply some warning whilst procuring video games (tell your son i'm sorry). it relatively is obviously the main suitable gadget and has the main powerful merchandising factor: Xbox stay. it relatively is once you connect the information superhighway to the Xbox and your son could possibly play with human beings around the globe, inclusive of his pals, as long as they have Xbox stay. it relatively is extra of a hardcore gamer gadget. purchase the Xbox 360; your son will love you.

The xbox 360 has the best games out right now like Gears of War and Crackdown and Saints Row. The Ps3 is way more expensive and only has one good game so far which is Resistance fall of man. I own both so i get the best of both worlds.

xbox 360
despite better graphics and blue ray for PS3
there is NO good lineup of games
only game good for PS3 is resistance: fall of man
the rest are trash, and the internet access is also pretty damn horrible :P

on the other hand, XBOX 360 has a promising lineup such as halo, etc
the good lineup of games also rewards with a cheap price and better internet access with xbox live

I don't have either of them but I have a Wii. Its cheaper, comes with the Wii sports, make your own Miis, and it is so dang fun. I love my wii! If you get a Wii, I highly recommend The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Best game ever!

Buy whichever appeals to you the most. If you can't choose between them buy both or neither. Don't count the Wii out either, it's a good system as well.
