Yes i care. It makes me really sad. I don't understand why George Bush spends billions of dollars on that stupid war when he could feed millions of starving people. =[ it saddens me.

I really don't know. I can tell you that I've heard so many "killer" stories over my life that my life ain't missin' no beat when I hear something in the "news". I doubt it's authenticity mostly, because I have decades of experience finding the nonsense involved in the "news" media, so, maybe due to them, I have a feeling of not caring. Maybe it's like that nursery story about the boy who cried wolf too much. You keep up the "sad" stories long enough, and are discovered to be a liar at best, and then when the "real" wolf shows up and you cry for help, who gives a damnn. As former Surgeon General Koop once said, "AIDS is the easiest disease NOT to catch. You just have to not do what it takes to get it, or stop doing what you are doing that makes you vulnerable." I'm tired of "caring" or being a bleeding-heart for all those so-called "helpless" people. Gimme a break. God Bless you.

If 10% of the average $907 that Americans spent on Christmas gifts went to children in need, 42 million children could be helped for an entire year according to statistics provided to me during an interview with World Vision.
This year, I conducted an experiment, and asked for donations to World Vision and Heifer.org instead of Christmas gifts. Many folks simply chose to give me gifts anyway, but several did make donations instead, resulting in $137 going to these charities.
I also have a website where I sell art to support these two fine charitable organizations. The next time you need art for your office, church, or home walls, please consider my website. My personal favorite of my own work is Sunset over Florence12. There are two other artists/photographers who are participating on my website with donated works.

If I truly, whole-heartedly cared about EVERYTHING that is going on in this world, I would live in a padded room. Yeah, sometimes I hear about a certain situation and I get sad. Sometimes I even do stuff about it. I donate money and clothes, and do community service. So yeah I care, but I guess only when it catches me off guard. Kinda sad really.

I've had this discussion many times and in many places. The outcome of such discussions usually comes down to myself asking others,"How is it that these people have come to be in such dire condtions"? No matter what the issue, there is always a base cause for it. That being the case, it is imperative that people begin to understand the cause-and-effect chains of reasoning that will bring these issues to their sensible conclusions. For example, look at the immigration mess in this country. Twelve-million illegal aliens are on American soil adding to our already strained economy. How is it that they can come here, stage mass demonstrations demanding their "constitutional" rights (they have none-period. They ARE NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!!!!!), increase the crime rate in certain geographic areas by over 300%-yet they can't do this in their own country and overthrow the top down corrupt regimes so they can build a better future for themselves on their own soil? As far as AIDS is concerned, anybody with a thinking brain knows that it comes from having perverted, unprotected, care-free sex. The problem even extends to contracting the virus via blood transfusions. Solution? STOP DOING ALL OF THESE THINGS!!!! Control these damn perverted urges. Do I care? YES!!!! Can I stop it? Sadly, no. Do I shed tears? No. Not anymore. I'm all cried out. Sometimes I go to this big mountain top at night overlooking our near-by city and, knowing what's going on in the festive streets below amidst the thousands of party-goers, I wonder how many of them will begin to notice in a month or two sores that will not heal, purple splotches here and there on their anatomy, growing weaker by the day, in their minds linking all these things to that person they didn't know in the rented hotel room two months prior; a person whom they have not seen since; a person who gave them a death sentence that's like shooting a bullet in April but not hitting its target until October when a nervously given blood test reveals that they are now HIV positive. Do I care about such mindless carnage and loss of life? Yes. Do I miss my friend who died of AIDS that was contracted in our fair city? Yes. What can I do? What can I say? It's much too late, obviously, to speak to him of personal responsibility. Hell, I didn't even know he was gay. We had alot of good times together, and I miss him to this day. He was real cool and everyone liked him. We drank together on that mountain-top and got blind-stupid drunk together and laid on top of the mountain side by side watching the stars and planning our futures. He was going to be a lawyer and I was going to be a writer. God-does anyone not care about someone like that?

Yup. Sometimes it sneaks up on me.
I saw a kitten in the alley behind my mom's house (flatter than a pancake) and it made me cry. Why? Because that same week I learned of a family with 5 kids sharing one coat... another little boy wearing his shirt inside out so it will look clean because he and his aunt live in their car....and more than once a little one trying to sneak an extra breakfast item into their bookbag at school because there will be nothing to eat at home for supper. All this in the good ole US of A. I do what I can to make a difference because I care.
Others care now, too. "Are you collecting coats for children again this year?", they ask, eager to offer their own contributions.
The folks we see on TV are the folks in our own town....if just one person cares, we can make a difference!

No - sorry, media will hype it up till you are broke and or depressed. To keep my - our sanity we need to concern ourselfs with the people around us. If the circle gets bigger, great more people will help their circle. But you can not save the world without going mad and broke. Because everyone elses causes are always more important then yours.
