Where do I begin.... Well, these aren't that sad. These are mainly humourous and/or anger driven (which is usually pretty funny as long as it isn't your turn). I find the saddest songs are the love songs you latch onto when love's fresh, new and exciting. Can't imagine a state of mind sadder than wallowing in what was. Still feel it after 10+ years. It's not worth it, listen to these songs then try some accordian music.
Ben Folds - Song For the Dumped
Harry Nilsson - You're Breakin' My Heart (Parental Advisory even though it's from the early '70's or something) "You're breakin' my heart, you're tearin' it apart, so f**k you."
Rolling Stones - Dead Flowers/Oh, Doctor
Sublime - Santeria
Adam Sandler - Somebody Kill Me Please (From Wedding Singer)
Pearl Jam - Black
U2 - Wild Horses
Prince - The Beautiful Ones
Steely Dan - Do It Again
The Beatles - Rocky Racoon
Neil Young - Field Of Opportunity
Joaquin Phoenix - Cocaine Blues
****
Todd Rundgren - It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference
Hank Williams, Sr. - Half As Much/ I'm So Lonesome I could Cry/Lonesome Whistle - These are sad.
Cyndi Lauper - Money Changes Everything/Time After Time
The Motels - Celia/Remember The Nights/Suddenly Last Summer
Romeo Void - It's A Condition
L7 - Shitlist
Marianne Faithful - Why'd Ya Do It?

The human heart is so complicated. Why must subject our hearts to more hurt than necessary? It's like we want to feel the hurt the pain to know we're alive. Anyhow, I too am guilty (VERY VERY guilty), so I have a collection of "i feel sorry for myself" songs. Her are my favs:
-Goodbye My Lover - James Blunt
-Going Under - Evanescence
- It Only Hurts When I Breathe - Shania Twain
- One Last Cry - Brian McKnight
- How Could the One - Aalyiah
- GottaDeal - Frankie J
- Don't Wanna Try - Frankie J
Those are just a few off the top of my head...I have tons other!

you could go with an old country favorite
I Got a Tear in My Beer
but personally when I ever broke up or even got dumped by a boyfriend I liked songs like Jerk(why don't jerks no they're jerks) by Kim Stockwood or Better things to do by Teri Clark (hometown favorite) thenew Carrie Underwood song would be good too.
SO In That spirt I'd suggest you put on your walking shoes and hit the town but, before you go listen to
Brand New Girl Friend by Steve Holy
here are the lyrics should put a smile on your face

Ummm.. She ****** hates me by puddle of mudd? Lol. Or a sad sappy song like Seperate lives by Phil Collins. Phil Collins is a really great singer. I love him. Ever watched Tarzan? yeah, he does all those songs. He's great.

"In Spite of Me" by Morphine is a great pity party breakup song. "Withering Pines" by Ryan Adams is good, too. The ultimate, though, is "Karma Police" by Radiohead Be sure and crank it up really loud.

This is way old - but how about REO Speedwagon - "I'm lyin' alone with my head on the phone, thinkin' of you till it hurts." I'm not sure the name of the song, but know I was cryin' to it many years ago.
OH! Air Supply - thank you!
