I got my navel pierced 7 going on 8 months ago. My piercer told me that I had a slightly higher chance of it rejecting, as the lip of my navel goes away when I lie down, but then he said he'd seen plenty of people like that heal fine. The first two months I saline soaked and cleaned it twice a day with my H2Ocean. Now, I only clean it once a day and don't soak. My healing has been going great -- I think it was infected once, but it's fine now. Starting about a month ago, I noticed that the skin area between the two holes has been getting a little smaller, and the skin above the barbell is red. The bottom was also peeling a little. I know it migrated to the left (it was crooked when I got it done, and now it's straight), as there is a red scar to the right. The migration only recently occurred though, and there is no scar BEHIND the bar. The peeling has basically stopped and the redness is starting to go away. Is it rejecting or are the symptoms from the migration? Will it still reject?

It's not infected. It was a while ago, but it cleared up. I don't really even have any lymph secretions anymore. So it's definitely not infected.

Follow the advice of the first poster. Be sure to watch it carefully. If it does not heal fully, see a doctor. I've seen the result of bad navel infections.

That happened to me.. mines completely healed now. My skin between the holes got so much thinner though from when i originally had it pierced. I asked the piercer what caused it and he said from wearing too heavy of navel jewelry. He said to only wear heavy jewelry when youre actually going to show it off because if you wear the heavy stuff on a regular basis the skin will just keep getting thinner and thinner untill its paper thin. If you don't wear heavy jewelry though already then i would just say use bactine and sea salt on it. Put the sea salt in a cup (follow the directions on how much to use and everything) and then once it's all mixed just suction the cup around your belly button and lay down with it on there for about 15 minutes..you can do it with or without a belly ring in (if your hole won't close up on you because its really healed, then i suggest doing it without the ring in) it works great trust me!! And when you're done with that just spray some bactine on your belly ring and twist it around once you put it back in.. only twist it a little though. Don't use the sea salt everyday though, it will dry out your piercing and make it worse. Use it about every 2 days. The bactine will be fine to use everyday. You can find the sea salt at almost any place online that sells navel jewelry, and the bactine you can get from a local pharmacy.

I never clean any of my piercings with the solution stuff & they never get infected. When I got mine pierced it was fine for awhile til it started lookin like it was gettin pushed out so i changed my ring back to the one it was pierced with the skin kept lookin like it was gettin smaller til it was thin enough i could see the ring through it & when i barely pulled on it it popped through the skin so now i have a big scar where it pretty much ripped out on it's own. I didn't have the scar at first but after i pulled it out it showed up even above where the bar was.

the same exact thing happened to me. they jsut get infected easily. use a spray, its called bactine. spray it on ur skin and ring. like..... spray it on ur ring, rotate it a lil, and spray it again. repeat steps a couple of times. bcuz whats happening is that the bactine it on the ring, and then goes inside ur peircing and cleans it out. that helped the most and thats the only way my infection went away.

if you just got it pierced, the swelling is probably going down. if it is rejecting, the best bet would be to take it out, i have a nasty scar on the front of mine. but getting it repierced after that hurts, so id take it out asap
