There seems to be an on-going debate in the Philippines about which dance should be regarded as national dance. It used to be Tinikling. Now, they changed it to Carinosa. Which in your opinion should be the national Philippine dance? Tinikling or Carinosa? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Tinikling! How about Itik-itik?

I would prefer Tinikling. At least even our brothers from Mindanao can identify with it because of their Singkil.

If you may ask me what other folk dance that I can suggest to be a national dance, it would be pandanggo. There are many variations of pandanggo, and variations should not be declared national dances... variatioins of pandanggo are Carinosa, Pandanggo sa Ilaw (Mindoro), Pandanggo sa Ilaw (Pangasinan), Sayaw sa Obando, Caracol, Pandanguhan sa Pasig....

I have nothing against Carinosa, except that if they will declare it as a national dance, it should be the dance not the choreography.... the dance of Carinosa is Pandanggo.
