I grew up in the heart of "Dixie" and racial tension, South Carolina. I've been called a lot of things that made me have disdain for white people when I was younger, because I didn't understand the hatred, because I always associated with everyone. My best friend was white (R.I.P. Scott Riley) and he was my brother. I enlisted in the military and I noticed that their was a racist culture brewing within the service, that really made me angry, because I'm not fighting for blacks, I'm fighting for everybody, and I can't even get treated the same here? Not all the white people I've encountered have been this way, but It just doesn't seem like there are enough people out there who just see the quality of the individual and not the color of their skin. All this arguing back and forth between races just makes me sick to my stomach. It's pointless, we're all brothers. Is there any colorblind people out there that feel how I feel?

ccguy: what are you talking about? What planet are you from? I asked if their were any "colorblind" people out there besides me, you completely went into left field about black people. You've got issues you need to handle.

I agree why should we even catorgize ,we are the human race,it is a small start but we could start a wave by doing what i have done for years spread the word and see what happens,,from now on any paper asking to check the box of race check other and write human to the side eventually that title will be wiped clean as part of your identity.By continuing to in a sense accept segration by aloowing to be titled as white black, etc,it keeps the terms of race factor circulate.By breaking this people who are "racist" would then have to find another way to inflict their hate by looking at it different and see in order to see indivisuals for who they are not to pass judgement. And if they still choose to be predjudice against the human race it is then they will see us as one.

I am colorblind. I can honestly say that I have friends from nearly culture and race, I don't think I know any Jewish people, but I would like to. I am multi racial and proud of my diverse heritage. My daughter's father is white. I think the world would be so much better if we stopped seeing the colors and differences of others and instead see all of our similarities. When I first met my friend who is Korean I didn't know what to expect when I first stepped into his home, what I saw was just like any other place, big screen tv, stereo... and we had a spaghetti dinner (which is his favorite) the only difference was race and a few cultural things, I learned a little Korean and a few things about their life in Korea.. but the basics were the same. Just as its been with all of my friends...

well i was brought up all over canada so i've seen first hand that no matter where you are folk may well be different but not in anyway that should set off the ruckus you tend to see, any group is quite adapt at making it's own set of dopes mine yours whatever, the trick is knowing what you stand for and not letting these others poison that way of thinking. cold-comfort i know but all in all our minds are the only ones we have a right to change nobody else's

Josh White has a line in one of his songs which states all men (people) are the same without their skin on. It really is true, and by wasting time hating folks for the color of their skin or lifestyle you miss out on knowing some really wonderful people and ideas....what a sad waste.

I have difficulty with American Blacks as a group, but like individual Blacks. I disagree that Blacks are victims, but I hear this all the time from Blacks. I think many Blacks are lazy and maximize the welfare state, I dislike hip hop culture, I disagree with treating Blacks special such as providing reparations. I dislike that Blacks always bring up their skin color in conversations. For me, when blacks decide there is more to life than their skin color, then racism will go away. Its really up to Blacks. An interesting fact is that Blacks who migrate here from other countries have the same income levels as Whites. I have also seen American blacks treat Blacks from other countries baldy. So would that be considered racism? I noticed a big push lately for reparations and this also creates large crevasses between the races. Its interesting to note that blacks came here after many whites were already here. I know my ancestors were here before the black slaves were brought in. Since middle eastern slave traders rounded up the slaves and shipped them to America, should they be more accountable to pay reparations? Anyway, until Blacks make their lives about something more than skin color and victim mentality, they will not be happy in society. Its really up to them.
