it has been along time since i read this book but i would have to say that when everyone starts fighting on the island, because there is no conformity everyone was having troubles deciding on true right and wrong behavior. Their ethics on killing was wrong, and their morals decreased because they had been very stressed and under appreciated.

it shows that morality/ethics are necessary for society because without them, the result is chaos... if you haven't read the book it ends with a fire because their is no proper leader from the "well they call themselves tribes" tear apart and become savages...

basically it shows that without morality/ethics, war starts.

Er, have you even read the book? Because, if you had, you'd see that the immoral society leads to the deaths of a few of the boys and the near-death of the main character.
