The understanding of who you are and y you r in this world?.....not all the ppl possess love, money, peace, happiness, soul mate, friends, family but even then they live a life.......if we survey the world and see the life of the 65% of the world we would find that the most important thing is "food,clothing,shelter"......as it depends on the life someone is spending as the necesity for one could be a comfort for other and a luxury for another.....and if these dintinctions did not existed how would we found the importance of life itself.

wurm say: The most important thing in life is what I
call the problem and/or purpose of human life. And
what this basically all boils down to is this strange
matter of the quality of consciousness; or, to put
it another way, the question of insight or vision:
'
"... the moment of great insight in which the purpose
of all life is seen. Ultimately, this is the only
thing worth achieving. Yeats called life 'a vast
preparation for something that never happens',
and yet one minute of such vision could turn all
preparation into achievement."
.
So how does one "prepare", you ask? ... Start here:
.
Q: What is the purpose of life?
.
A: The purpose of life is to find your meaning and
value *within* the context of your life as a whole.
.
Q: How do we find meaning and value in life?
.
A: There are many ways to find meaning and value in
life. One popular way is to build them into your life
by just living active and meaningful lives based on
decisions and actions that we normally do in the
course of our daily lives.
.
Q: Are there other sources of meaning and value?
.
A: Insofar as "Systems of Thought & Action" (such
as various religions and/or philosophies, etc) are
incorporated into regular daily life, they can indeed
be a reliable fount of meaning and value; as well
as other things, 4X: nice thoughts of certainty and
reassurance, etc, and sundry other 'warm and fuzzy
feelings'. :)
.
Q: So all religions and philosophies are basically
equal then and now?
.
A: Not at all. Everything can be weighed and analyzed
and criticized and judged ... by many and various
standards of carefully calibrated measuring
instruments (and other more or less random utilities)
... heh. Indeed, Philosophy is well known for
criticizing Her own systems of thought. Check it out!

I believe that the most important thing in your life is your soulmate. That one special person you share everything with. The person who loves you for what you are, not what you have. They are the key to your happiness as well as your legacy. Life would be very difficult without your soulmate.

Being true to yourself, and not being one way just because your parent/pastor/friend/whatever told you to be. Having strong opinions and be willing to express and defend them, even in front of people who disagree with you (I have told a church group why I was an atheist. I told a man who is prejudiced against women that I don't care if he likes me or hates me, but he will never forget me).

Sanity...without sanity, you can't attain anything else, like work, love, friends, family, etc.
