I do not have a myspace, but three times within the past year I have discovered fake ones of me where people use my pics and/or name. Myspace gives me problems when I ask to delete them since I dont have the password. What can be done about this? Do I have a lawsuit? and is it possible to track who's doing this?

I'm on a lot of websites, the pics that get stolen are usually from one of the websites, so I couldnt even say for sure where they are getting them from. I have copyright to all my images.

Actually the legal end of the Internet is still not well defined. To prove a case would be a major undertaking. I have seen a lot of clones in YA; it is difficult not to be tricked. Also, I was writing a lady who was actually a man. That is really sick.
I would suggest you try to be exclusive on the Internet. You need to assure your material is covered by proper registration of copyright. Then and only then can you file a legal action.

To the fool thinking you have no copyright on your images ... just because it is online, does not mean you or anyone else can use them.
According to the law, using an image of you is identity theft and something that is no longer taken very lightly. I would persist with bothering the fools at my space to remove your image. Threaten them with a lawsuit, give them even more bad publicity by announcing the fakes everywhere you can.

wow... that sucks... you can make your own profile and maybe send them a comment or message saying that the myspace that they created is you or just send message to tom, the creator of mysapce... and maybe the ones who made the fake profile of you is your friends who are tring to make u look bad.... Also there is no way of trackin them down...

decide for it. the only element is you're able to get the account deleted reason for copyright rules. no longer something can ensue to you nonetheless. maximum human beings in the event that they found out it become a fakie they might message you and delete u. ive accomplished it until eventually now with a chum.

Ask them to do an adress check and compare. Or Sue them for allowing others to steal your image.

you can report it to myspace that they are impersonating you. give proof. also be very aggressive so they will act on it. i have done it before and saw that being aggressive works (i used it on friendster). and quote like their policies or something like that.

I think it could be too hard to catch everyone. That would be scary to think people out there think they know you.
