I realize this is not a question, more of an opinion; but i don't understand how people can say that Las Vegas is expensive. Expensive compared to what? Boise, ID? I guess. I live in LA, and the rent in LA is what i would call expensive. I lived in Vegas for a year, and the rent was a steal compared to LA. I had a brand new 1 bedroom apt in summerlin that was running for 950 dollars. If this was in LA, it would have run for atleast twice that amount. Vegas is the cheapest place you can live if you want to be entertained 24/7. It has great weather, activities, restaurants, and LA/SD/PHX/Tahoe and the river are all within a morning drive.

So if you are wondering if Vegas is expensive, it just depends on how much you are making. What can make Vegas expensive is falling into the lifestyle. But if you can manage to stay away from the temptations, and go about living a normal life, you'd be amazed by how inexpensive it is.

MOVE TO VEGAS!

Las Vegas is probably the most exciting and enjoyable city in the world and with hotelbye you may find out more. Nowhere otherwise in the world you will discover an area that's most of the travel amenities that only a total resort destination could possibly offer: luxurious casino lodges, great food, great stay amusement and state-of-the art tradition and business show facilities. Las Vegas is surely a magnificent town and anything that you'd assume from a world-class city, and more, is the following for your travel pleasure. Among the areas you need to visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian area with all kinds of distinctive sites.

Well, I would have to agree with you on all counts. My husband and I have been going to Vegas at least 2 times a year for the past 6-7 years. We realized early on that we loved it there. But, after a couple of years of going and doing the "strip tourist" thing, we also realized that we loved the city besides all the hoopla. We have relatives there and so frequently when we are there we travel far away from the strip to the regular neighborhoods. And we have found that it's very nice. Everything else in there is just as normal as any where else. If you are blindfolded and driven to another part of town and were facing away from the strip, you would never know that you are in Vegas. It's all very normal. As we continued to visit year after year, we also started to look into all kinds of other aspects of the city. We are from Utah. And there are alot of differences. First of all the weather is great. Of course, you have to like it hot, which we do. We both have conditions which are extremely effected by cold. So we are always in pain. Except when we go to Vegas. Then we feel great. Also, without going into detail, we are both licensed professionals in our chosen fields, and cannot for the life of us make even 40K between us. And we both have over 20 years of experience in our fields. It's not for lack of training or experience. It's a lack of job availability and security. Along with the fact that most Utah businesses are aware of the lack of jobs and know people will take less than they are worth just to have a job. But, in visiting Vegas, and talking with all kinds of people in all kinds of occupations, the job market is 1000 times better. And we would have no problem attaining jobs with better pay and security. Also, another factor is that your job opportunity and security are based in Vegas on your ability to do that job, your experience, etc. Not which church you go to, which has been a disadvantage for us.
There is alot more recreation in the area, not just the strip. And when you get to know the local way, you can live pretty cheap.
Getting back to the original comment, I agree that it's not that expensive depending on how you want to live. If you are moving to Vegas with realistic goals about life, you will do fine. If you are doing to because you think you want to be a high roller, think again. The strip is the illusion, the rest is just like anywhere else. Just more opportunity if you are willing to work for it.
We, by the way are selling our house this summer and moving to Vegas. As we are ready for a change and love the warmer weather and need to make more money for what we know how to do. And we completly believe that we can have that in Vegas.
