I believe they will. With the surprising season they had last year it is very possible. They were expected to win only 3 or 4 games last year and they blew past that. People don't put enough stock in this team they are young have a lot of talent and are on the rise. Also about beating expectations’ they were short handed last year on both ends of the ball missing pro bowl center Jeremy Newberry as well as being shallow in the linebacker position on the defensive end. The emergence of Frank Gore as a dominant back was huge, look for sophomore Vernon Davis to come through big and really boost the passing game and spread the field he is lightning fast and as physical as they come. Also on the rumor mill the Niners are looking to sign a big name defensive player this off season. Time will tell if this team can surpass the 500 mark, but i wouldn't count them out just yet.

Though the 49ers appear to be on the rise, there are still alot of holes to fill and personel changes to be made on defense. The offense could use another playmaker who can prevent defenses from focusing on RB Frank Gore and TE Vernon Davis. QB Alex Smith needs to be more consistent. Having said this, the 49ers should be able to get to atleast .500.

Me. They're on the cusp of a breakout year. Alex Smith is developing and as they add offensive weapons around him and Frank Gore, they are only going to get better. Vernon Davis was a start, now they need the game-changing WR.

I think they'll be AT LEAST .500. Alex Smith is coming into his own, and he's got the RB (Frank Gore) and the weapons to do it. Their defense isn't that bad either. I think this team could be on its way back to glory in the next 3-5 years.

If there not .500 then they will have a bad season becuase they got Frank Gore, a great runner, and they have alex smith, who is finally becoming a good qb. Finally they r in an easy divison

They played 10 games against the 2 worst divisions in football and still only won half of them. They're not going to the playoffs.

i called them to win their division last season, they came close too.. and they're still my pick in that division for this upcoming season, i was also all over the Gore bandwagon before anyone else was because from his rookie year i could tell he was going to be a BA, despite his early fumbling problem he still boosted me to the playoffs in my 16-man fantasy league, even after Portis got hurt and i had to start platooning between players like Sammy Morris and Leon Washington.. all i can say is i hope they're next year's Saints cuz i've always loved the 9ers, thanks to Joe Montana and my being able to watch the tail-end of his career with them before they shipped him off to the Chefs

I even think they will make it to the playoffs. they deserve it by now, they must be looking foward to kicking all teams butts. I am also looking foward, who knows, maybe they could end up winning Super Bowl 42..."expect the unexpected"

with norv the offense was still 26th, altho numbers dont tell the whole story. if they promote from within and hire sullivan, who knows the system norv runs, then i think they should be at least .500
