First and foremost, I'm not racist in the slightest bit I had a boyfriend who was African American and my best friend growing up was full Mexican. I think racism is cruel and uncalled for but there are some facts regarding races that are not right.
There are not just racism in this country against those of other colors. There is pleny of racism going on every day towards white people. The reason we don't see it as often as racism towards Blacks, Mexicans, etc is because we choose not to see it. People believe that races besides whites have it the worst in America, and while that may be true, there are plenty of racist things going on every day that are guided towards whites. On the LA news the other day they showed these 4 white girls in LA that got attacked by a group of Mexicans for no reason, and they were called names such as gringa's etc.. Now is that racism or not?

here's also the fact that a lot of Rap Songs by mainly blacks, some by latinos, have negativity towards whites for example. I've heard Rap songs that say something like "Cracker" or "Trailer Trash." What is the right in that?
I am completely sympathetic to the fact that blacks and latinos who are in America did have a disadvantage a few decades ago, but in current times there are equal opportunities to other races compared to whites. Look at Obama, he is running for president and has many on his sides. There are many important people out there of different races, and many high in the corporate conglomerate. Although this is true there are those blacks, latinos, etc, that believe that they can't go far in life because of their race. Thus comes so many helpful guides such as more financial aide, welfare, medical, and so much others. I'm not against these things but these simply add help to those who believe they are racially inferior.

Sorry for all this talk, but i felt I needed to get it out. Now my questions are:

-Can you see the racism that is guided towards white people nowadays?
-Is it right for races to insult other people of their race with derogatory terms?
-To what extent does racism still exist in America?
-Because of their races' backgrounds, do you think other racists have it harder in society? Do you think they can make something out of themselves? Do you think they need extra support from the government financially?

Like I said, I'm not racists, this is what I see in society, I've had many important people in my life that were of other races and I saw what they went through as well.

Please intelligence answers only, any racist or derogatory comments will be reported.

Racism is often insinuated against whites largely because it was a term first use to describe the indifference specifically between whites and other races. It's become a "magic word" so to speak that can take on many meanings as long as it refers to a Caucasians inability to "comprehend" or gain understanding or empathy to the "cultural in differences" besides our own. It defines any act of selfishness, hostility and/or ignorance towards any race other than our own, even if we do in fact treat our fellow race in the same manner. For example, a white man firing a white man for incompetence is considered practical business. A white man firing a black man in similar circumstances is racism. A white man donating money to the United ***** College Fund would be considered a "due gesture" A white man thinking why there is no "White College Fund" is considered to be a racist. A white man hiring an unskilled white man to mow his lawn is considered to be successful, if he hires a Mexican to do the same he is a racist. If a Black man shoots a white man, it becomes an article in the daily paper, if a white man shoots a black man...actually lets not go there.. Someone might get offended.

As you can see it is very logical process.

Yer unfortunately is racism too, I don't understand what the idea of been racist, Why people can understand we are all one race, humans? Doesn't matter what color our skin is we al have red blood, 2 eyes, our heart is in the same place, etc. Racism is one ob the biggest reasons because this world is so messed up, the day we learned to accept the other in the way they are this world will be come a better place to live.

Who cares if Rue was white or black? It's crazy that there even has to be an article about it. You're right: it was said clearly in the book that many of the people in District 11 have dark coloring. Actually, the girl who played Rue in the movie looks a lot like how I pictured Rue when I was reading the book. I saw her in the trailer and was thinking "Oh my goodness that is Rue!!" Race was mentioned a lot in the books...the people in 11 generally had dark skin. The people in the Seam generally had olive skin and dark hair. The merchants in 12 generally had blond hair and blue eyes. To me it seems like race was used to divide up the people when Panem was forming the districts. Like you I also just assumed that Cinna was white. It was never stated in the book one way or the other. When I saw the trailer I was like, "Oh he's black. Ok." Not a big deal. It's NOT terrible. He is still my favorite character, because I DON'T CARE about his skin color. They never said everyone in the Capitol was one color. I mean come on people, Octavia had bright green skin for crying out loud!

It's nice to see someone state the facts like that. I went to a predominately black elementary school and was discriminated against on a regular basis but people just ignore it like white people deserve it because someone of the same color did crap to another race. You can't blame a whole race for others actions just like you can't discriminate against all blacks for what some idiots do. It's sad to see people turn a blind eye to what is blatant racism.

I understand entirely what you mean,I feel the same way I hate racism.Just to let you know gringa is not racist.it means white
women.I am not Mexican,I am Puerto Rican and I know what that word is.Puerto Ricans and Mexicans come from way different cultures, and me and my brother gone through that experience before with Mexicans, but it was not racist. You have to understand that most non whites have experience more racism and discrimination than whites in general. They feel that most white people are racist and don't love or care for minorities.I far as I can recollect, the only white people that have really been discriminated
are the European Jews, the Irish, and the Italians, but that was a long time ago.Don't get me wrong there are white people in America that are being discriminated, but it's not as big compared
to the sh*t that has happened to the blacks,Mexicans,Puerto Ricans, the Chinese, the Japanese,Arabs, and most of all the Native Americans.Whites have taken the land away from Native Americans and have raped they're women, and killed they're people and have tried to throw Native American out of they're home, yet Native Americans have lived in America.Black people were called all kinds of names like n****r,and porch monkeys.White people have taken black people out of Africa, and put on ships. They were cut off of they're culture, religion, language,
and many of the white men during the time of slavery forced black women into marriage, and many of the blacks in America do not have pure African bloodline because of that. Many blacks were looked at as inferior because of the color of they're skin.
Mexicans were treated like like animals, and they were paid 20 cents an hour.Mexicans are well known for working hard and putting in most hours than most Americans, and when Mexicans
would work they're a** off in the hot sun they were called wetbacks?Puerto Ricans were treated the same way like the Mexicans, but of all the Hispanics in America Puerto Rican don't take s*it from nobody, and they are respected the most.
I love people of all races, but until you enter the world of non-whites you'll never understand who we are and how we have struggled. You have got it all wrong whites have not got it the worst, whites have got it easy.

You shouldn't confuse sexism and sexual harassment for racism.

Still, you are right that racism is far more than just a one way street. Word is that whites will be a minority in the US in a decade... It makes me wonder... Will that mean there will start being affirmative action for white people?

Makes me want to listen to Frank Zappa's "Dumb All Over" again...

I agree with you. Racism is a hatred of any race, be it black, hispanic, asian or white. I think that racism is way too prevalent in today's society in all ways.

Of course there is racism towards white people. We are to blame for every other race's problems. Just ask them.
