simple. nickel has an atomic number of 28. and an atomic mass of 59. so 59 is protons and neutrons together. 28 is the number of protons. if the element is neutrally charged 28 is also the number of electrons. so 59-28=31

neutrons-31
protons-28
electrons-28

An attention getter is quite important for public speaking, less important for some types of essays, but not important at all for essays on chemical elements. If you need an opening joke for a speech, go to the library. They have hundreds of books for just that.
