I have been charting my cycles for the past 8 cycles, the one I am on being nine and I just started it yesterday. (I take my temp every morning and I observe my cervical fluid every day) For each of the cycles I have counted and I am concerned that I have a short luteal phase because for every cycle I only had appx 10 days from the time I ovulated until the day I started my period. Is there anyone who has experienced this and went on to have a normal natural pregnancy. This month was my husband and my first month actually TTC but we have been having unprotected sex the entire 8 cycles. We have only two more cycles until, a pregnancy would not be good timing, meaning I would end up having the baby during the middle of a school semester. These next two cycles if I get pregnant then I would have the baby during Christmas break and it would work out, anyway is there anything I can do to speed up the process and what can I do to naturally lenghthen my luteal phase? Thank you

10 - 16 days is the average. If you've been having unprotected sex thus far then you may want to speak with your dr.

Luteal phase lengths of less than 10 days are considered too short for implantation to occur, and may thus indicate a problem with successfully achieving pregnancy. In such an instance, the egg may be fertilized, but the endometrium is sloughed off before implantation can occur. This condition is sometimes referred to as a luteal phase defect. If you suspect you have a short luteal phase, you should see your healthcare professional about it. Short luteal phases may be corrected with progesterone treatment.

It relies upon on how short is short. despite if it relatively is a minimum of 10 days, then there is not any problem. being pregnant could be accomplished with a minimum of 10 days. despite if it relatively is below 10 days, the egg would possibly no longer have adequate time to precise implant. If it would not have the possibility, then it won't be in a position to tell your physique to offer the being pregnant hormone hcg. Hcg will stop your menstrual era via retaining the progesterone extreme and the estrogen decrease. you may get pregnant, besides the undeniable fact that which you ought to to examine with a doctor to elongate the luteal area. maximum suitable of high quality fortune to you!

My luteal phase defect was discovered when i was TTC #2... i was also charting and all that fabulous stuff. i had all the right stuff but it was too short to carry a pregnancy. You might want to consult your obgyn and ask... I took clomid and got pregnant ( after TTC for 19 mos) with my now almost 9 yr old daughter.
Good Luck.
