Most any soil will do . Be aware pumpkins grow long vines on the ground,10-15 ft. and one vine will produce many . You can influence the size of pumpkins . First by seed selection and secondly by removing some blossoms so that the remainder will grow larger. Make a mound 6-8 inches high in which to plant your 4-6 seeds. after plants come up thin to no more than 3.
Steam a few blossoms and season them "delicious".

Pumpkins don't need any great soil, just a lot of water. Dig the soil up good, no major rocks, put the seeds about an inch down...water every few days...after you get sprouts keep them almost moist..but not totally wet. Good luck

Just chuck the seed in the ground and when you see the flowers, you have to cross fertilise them. Ask a gardener with an open mind.

Mine have overtaken the back yard.
