i am looking to replace the magneto on my truck, it is a 1980 CJ7 with a chevy 350 with a B&M 144 c.i blower running 7psi, and a 250 shot of nitros this is a serious motor. i've been having problems with the magneto and want to replace it with a small cap dist. with external coil and MSD 6al box. will this be okay?

Since you would gain a longer duration spark with wider gap plugs I'm sure you would be happy. They're some really great magneto rebuilding outfits out there but the cost of rebuilding or the price of a new one wouldn't equal the MSD setup. I live in the northeast and all the oval trackers (big and small block) use the MSD 6al and some 7al boxes and distributors

Hey Dave, I would use the msd dist, they sell a kit that comes with dist, coil and cap and it will work with MSD 6al box. I would recommend you use the Msd Box and NO vacuum advance. Good Luck.

i own a repair shop and if i was you id go with the hei distributor in it it delivers around 80 thousand volts and that's more than enough to fire what your doing and then some,i got it on a car that's running nitrous, and it does real good, and is easy to service, these things last forever though, and that's the best choice you could make considering what you have already, good luck i hope this help,s.

easiest answer for this is order you a free summit racing catalogue. either on line or by phone and they have parts kits for pretty good deals for what you're looking for.
