~~ I have travelled through Mississippi on three occasions and have always liked what I've seen.
The climate is somewhat humid though.
The winters are mild, so if your coming from a northern state you will appreciate that.

~~ People are friendly everywhere if you treat them with respect and consideration.
I'm not one that considers the racial makeup of a town or state.
But if you would like to see the demographics of Mississippi, this is the link to Wikipedia's article on it:

~~ Mississippi is quite flat the highest peak not even reaching 1000ft!
There are many beautiful National Parks and trails to be found.

Sadly many of them were damaged by Katrina.

~~ Quiet? The rural areas certainly are. So too are some of the larger cities.
There is more action to be found on the Gulf Coast where you'll find the casinos located.

~~ It is a bit hard to make a comment on the cost of housing without knowing where exactly you will be living.
This is a link to a directory of all the newspapers in the state,
Choose the ones from the city your relocating to and check the classifieds.

Alternatively do a search on real estate for the city and have a look at what the market is.

It depends what part of Mississippi. We live in Desoto County up north. It's really a suborb of Memphis. It's very racist. Opposite of what you'd think though. Blacks HATE whites. We moved here from the North and all I heard was how much friendlier people are in the south.

NO WAY. People are rude here. And really stupid too. I don't know how it is in the rest of the state.

You'll like it...if you're moving there from Uruguay. Most people are stupid, fat, and they smoke. About the only good thing is that it's not expensive...you can buy a very nice house there for like 12 dollars. It's like a 3rd-world country. I hope your dad's business is selling deodorant, cuz that place is an armpit.

Don't be surprised if you get some negative responses from people for asking about 'racial wise'.
