First thing I would do, is check the owner's manual to see if it is an automatic self-cleaning model. This type of oven would turn itself on.

If the oven is not a self-cleaning model, then I would call the gas company, and ask them to send a technician over to check for a leak. Most utilities will do this free of charge.

If there is a slight leak in the gas feed in the oven and you have pilot lights I suppose it could self ignite if enough gas built up in there.
