long story short - she invites him on stage at newport folk festival, he neglects to return the favor a few years later when he's touring england, they have a falling out.
she wanted more to use her fame to help the "subcultural" movement, and he used it to continue touring and making money.

that does not, not mean that im not a dylan fan.

A really short version: they were in love and lived together from late 1962 to early 1965. Joan Baez was already famous at that time, and she introduced Dylan (not yet famous) to her audiences. Then their lives took separate ways. Listen to Joan Baez's song Diamonds and Rust (written in 1975), it says everything about their relationship :-)

They were romantically involved off and on for a few years. By the end of Dylan's 1965 tour, his romance with her had went down hill and he was dating his future wife Sara.

Baez songs about Dylan:
"To Bobby" (1972)
"Diamonds & Rust" (1975)
"Winds Of The Old Days" (1975)
"O Brother!" (1976)
"Time Is Passing Us By" (1976)

Dylan songs about Baez:
"She Belongs To Me" (1964)
"Visions of Johanna" (1966)
"Positively 4th Street"

The answer before mine got it right.

Dylan got tired of being the voice of his generation. He wrote so many songs that became anthems for social change. They basically went in different directions musically. She remains very active politically with her music. His focus has shifted toward the personal instead of the political. They still performed together into the 70s though. She was part of his Rolling Thunder Revue in 1975.
