I recently noticed that my silver ring has become very tarnished from the bleach i use in my dishwater (the ring doesn't come off because of swollen fingers) and i was wondering if anyone has any "home remedies" for getting it clean? Thanks!

You may wish to try Sodium bicarbonate. It works well.
Try also to remove your ring in using a few drops of oil or a soapy solution which should allow the ring to slip out easily.

OK, I read all the answeres you got. I worked at the local jewlers while in college, cleaning jewlery. DON"T use toothpaste. Oh it will clean the ring but it will also remove the protective coating on silver that stops it from tarnishing. Use window cleaner!! Put the ring in a small dish and pour the window clearner over the ring. Soak it for about an hour. Remove the ring from the cleaner and run it under very hot water, then dry it. Believe me it will do the job and look beautiful!!! Good Luck!

All you need is jewelry cleaning cloth. Just rubbing the ring with it takes off the tarnish. You can buy one at walmart or any jewelry store. They don't cost much and work well. For a home remedy try soaking it overnight in 1 part Mr. Clean and 4 parts water. A lady at a jewelry store once told me this is what they use. Another thing you can try is to brush it with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Put some baking soda on an old tooth brush ..add a little water and clean...it is also used for tooth paste when you are out and it can freshen your breath at the sametime...use it in the fridge ..just an open box and it will absorb odors.

Toothpase definitely works with anything silver. Rub a little on, and polish with a dry cloth.

Also, use rubber gloves when doing dishes! Not only will it protect your jewelry, it'll definitely protect your skin.
