NOTHING!!!
I would just take up the carpet.... I did! Even though the floor underneath was concrete, it really works better than smelling the nasty carpet and seeing the stains. I will eventually replace it with some sort of flooring. Just paint the floor under the carpet and get a few scatter rugs. I took mine up about 2 years ago and I know it was the best solution.

First try sprinkling baking soda on all the carpets and enable sit down over nighttime. Then vacuum nicely. that could also help a lot and without the undesirable floral scents left in the back of by the commonly used dry carpet sprinkles. once you've a floor scrubber, the type with brushes, Oreck sells a dry carpet powder it really is the subsequent step up in dry carpet cleansing. It must be agitated down into the fibers, for this reason the floor scrubber. Oreck will be at liberty to promote you their own agitator, yet i locate my previous Hoover floor cleanser works besides. After some hours the stuff must be vacuumed up. This also reduces stains, unlike baking soda. in case you nevertheless locate Fido, then pass haead and get or employ a carpet cleanser. some human beings like the Bissel, others the Hoover. I absolutely have the Hoover and am extra regularly than not extremely joyful. the finest step is a specialist cleansing and also you would throw interior the upholstery besides. canines smells get there besides as on the carpet/drapes. bear in thoughts, if the canines has had an accent, the stink will be down interior the pad below the rug and no cleansing receives that out. you could decrease the carpet, pull out and replace the pad and then reset the carpet.......continually sniffing the underfloor besides. sure, it ought to reason issues all a thanks to the subfloor.

For best results, attack the stain quick!
Vinegar can work OK, but nothing works better than products made especially for pet stains and odors, as they contain bacteria/enzyme digesters that 'eat' the organic material.
It can be a bit of a process to get it all out, but it will work in the long run, without the odors creeping back in...
A more detailed step-by-step process can be found here:

After you get the stain out..which there are so many different ideas on doing that, depending on cat or dog, big or small, etc. (I've been using baby wipes... A LOT of baby wipes!LOL)But~the BEST thing I've found that will completely eliminate odors is called "Odor Cide". It's available at Wal-Mart and even our local grocery store. This stuff is incredible! Doesn't just cover-up the smell, it does eliminate it! It's in a small, round spray bottle~green label, yellow spray nozzle~and it's only $3.00ish. We just got a puppy~~ you can trust me on this one;)
Good Luck!!

Viniger works the best and is cheep.
For the whole floor use it in one of those steam cleaners instead of detergent.
For a small spot add 1/2-1 cup of viniger to a gallon of water, then use a rag dipped in mixture and squeezed alittle (so it dosen't drip) and scrub the area well. Then blot up with a dry cloth.
