Exactly, and it is possible to worry yourself to death. You need to put things in perspective for her. I am one who is known to stress alot and the following statements have helped me alot. Ask her; what is the worse that can happen? (she could fail - so what - if she keeps going on stressing so much she could die - or develop a really bad case of obsessive compulsive disorder.) Try and get your friend to compare her problems to more global one's and she will see how little the things she worries about really matters. Try using a 1 to 10 scale (one being the least and ten the worst) Tell your friend to consider her stress and worries and rate how bad they are on a scale from one to ten. If your friend answers anything above 5 she is experiencing an extremely bad case of anxiety. One your friend has answered go on to explain to her how 10 on the scale is the very worst thing that can happen - for example 10 could be everyone she knows, loves and cares for dying. If she said that her uni stress is anything close to 10 (for example say she said 5 - you can say 'so having everyone you care about die is only doubelly as bad as your concerns about school??) This will help your friend see that they are worrying too much. Also, if need be tell her this true story that happened to a girl in my local area, she studied so hard worrying and stressing over her HSC for over a year, she completed the exam - but did not even get the chance to see her results as in celebrating her completion of school her and her friends were taking a trip to the beach - they were involved in a car accident and she died instantly - this is extremly sad but it can also teach us a lesson, if this girl I speak of knew that she was going to die so young so soon I wonder if she would have taken more time enjoying the last year of her life? I know I would have - but she could not have known, nobody can - so we have to make sure we make everyday count.

I live a high stress life with my kids and taking care of a million differant things and also looking for a job. First, tell her to take a deep breath and learn deep breathing because getting more O2 will do a lot for the body. Tell her to take a day just for herself and to even get away from the home by getting a motel room and don't tell anyone where she is. Take a long hot bath and get some rest, use the hotel's exercise room.
I also have a exercise ball that I use when I am on the computer and just bounce on it when I am stressed and I am still getting a slight workout, which helps relieve stress also.

I'm a worrier, so maybe I can help. lol
What I try to do to short circuit over worrying a problem is to lay out specific ideas for what I'll do if X happens. This helps me feel better because I know if the worst happens, I know what I'll do about it and rather than non specific worrying, it gives me something specific to do.
I also find that exercise and hard physical labor seem to help take the mind off these things, as well as helping others solve their problems. Gets the mind off whatever it's stuck on.
You don't say what your friend is worrying about, so it's hard to be more specific. If she's in some kind of abusive relationship at home or work, though, that could be exacerbating the problem 10 fold. In that case, she might want to seek some counseling to help her deal with things.

She needs to relax. Even if it's just a bubble bath with some soft music. She can find some kind of routine like that to enjoy.
Worrying never solves anything & she needs to understand that. She can't enjoy life if she's always stressed out.
If she's overloaded between school & work it might be time to ask for a day off work just to go skating or to the zoo & act like a kid & let off some steam.

plan ahead.
keep to the plan.
accept that you did the best you could.
move on to the next step.
go out on friday nights and have fun.
stress can come from being overwhelmed.
take control of things and handle them the best you can, but be able to accept mistakes and move on. also a lot of people get to focused on work and dont take time to have fun and destress.
good luck

Remind her to keep things in perspective. Or do something to take the pressure off. As someone else pointed out, religion can take your mind off things.
