No, minors are defined by the various states as a person under 18 or 21 years old and you can leave a 17 year old alone and in charge all you want (within reason). Some states (perhaps most) have a limit on how young the person left in charge can be. In New Jersey you cannot leave a person under 12 home alone. So, the couple that left a 5 and 3 year old alone while they went on vacation were arrested when they got home.

you can send them to red cross but if something happens you are still responsible .That s what the police station told me .
