I recieved my first Lupron Depot (11.25mg) shot at the beginning of this month..and I'm getting hot flashes about every 30 minutes to an hour. They are getting extremely bothersome and I was wondering what I can do to help them. I'm working on cutting out soft drinks now hoping that may help on the sugar intake.

You should be on addback therapy to control the hypoestrogenic effects (including bone density loss) induced by the Lupron and/or other GnRH agonist protocol. Those on second round Lupron treatments are in fact required to have Aygestin addback given in conjunction with their injections. First round users should also be taking addback as well. Ask your doctor why it wasn't offered to you and whether it is an option; and if not, why not. Good luck...they do go away eventually...

hi there,

they are bad sometimes aren't they? I am in my 2nd year of Lupron to reduce cysts, fibroids and endometrosis rather than go for surgery.

I get them pretty bad, one of them flattened me, I got so hot I thought I'd pass out! What I try to do is keep a moist towellette in my pocket or purse to use to try to cool off if i'm out and about. Hot foods and drinks tend to bring them on, also you have to watch caffeine and sugar as they heat you up too, the caffeine stimulates the blood pressure and when it rises you get hotter from the circulation boost.

Try to dress cool, I wear short sleeve shirts in winter and take a sweater cause you can always take the sweater off. I have a little battery fan I carry with me and a japanese hand fan too.

If they get too bad we can always get a small dose of estrogen from the dr to take or use.
