Just kidding! It's fashion, and like any art, its trends and acceptability vary from time to time. Powdered wigs were hot at one point, and now it's ties. That's fashion: everyday and spontaneous art!

I think they are really unnecessary. Once they may have been used to keep your lunch off your shirt. Now they are just look dumb.
And research has shown they a Doctor's tie just carries germs from one patient to the next.
We should burn them like women burned bras!
