What can we do to protect our sons from false rape accusations?

In fact, what can we do to protect our sons from false legal accusations, in general. It seems, more and more, many women are accusing men, (especially rich men) falsey for money, advancement, power, or all. Such as the "Duke Lacross" case. How can we stop this injustice?

corny as it seems, maybe try to re-establish traditional families as the norm. Teach kids that lying is wrong. This is really just a small aspect of a larger problem - that bullshitting is okay if you can profit from it. See it everywhere, in business, in the courts, in the media (tabloids being the obvious extreme, but even the networks are guilty of it). So we could use a bit of help from those vultures, too.

Society has become progressively more amoral. There are lots of reasons for this, and the short list I gave is by no means comprehensive.

But, anyway. Hopefully you don't have to teach little boys that raping is wrong, but the fact is that those raised in a decent, stable, two parent home are lots less likely to do it, and women raised in the same situation are much less likely to commit criminal acts - which is what a false accusation of rape is.

I don't believe there is anything you CAN do to prevent it, unless all men want to move to a deserted island with no women...3 of us at one time were great friends--2 of us gals and a guy. Everyone called us the 3 Musketeers...until one day she accused him of raping her. I was in shock. I couldn't believe he would do that to someone and I couldn't believe she would like about something so horrible, especially when she held my hand through a rape crisis may years ago. It broke up a great friendship circle. It took over a year for it to be settled, if you want to call it that...he passed a polygraph and she finally admitted it he didn't rape her, but none of us has been the same since...I never spoke to her again and I see him every now and again and he is messed up over it. Even though he was cleared, the accusation still hangs over his life and because she is in and out of the loony bin, she has nothing he can sue her over. What is even sadder is there are women out there who are actually being raped and no one believes them because of these women that make all these false accusations and these DA's that push the charges even when all the evidence proves otherwise, such as in the Duke La Crosse case. We can do some things to prevent it, such as not putting ourselves into the position to be raped or be accused of rape, but that's next to impossible. About all any of us can do--whether victim or accused--is the best we can once it happens...sad, isn't it, that the world has come to this?

A good deterrent might be to sentence false accusers of the same punishment as their alleged assailants.

As severe as those are, it might not be such an attractive course of action to make a false claim.

So why is it okay to say that a man was asking for it, but when a guy says the same thing about a woman, it's almost a criminal offense? Talk about double standards!

Introduce innocent untill proven guilty. The way I see it, a jury can rule guilty (or innocent) although there may not be enough evidence, it boils down to whom the jury believes, When the accusations can not be proven (as it is often the case when it comes to rape) the accused should be able to walk away. If she has no intention to become intimate with him in the first place, she has no buisness to retire with him to a bedroom of some sort where they are all on their own with no witnesses around anyway.
Do not teach children and boys to keep their hands to themselfs, its unrealistic instead tell them that if they want sex, but have no intention to marry the woman, to go to a brothel. They should also be taught to look for wifely qualities in a woman instead of hot looks and again, unless she approaches him they should get used to get the sex they want in a brothel instead of fighting over it with their wifes.

What we have to understand is that we are in a terrible predicament right now - woman are being raped without recourse to justice and men are accused of rape without recourse to justice|

It is the times that we are now living in|

The only thing we can do is endure the injustice for the time being - its painful, but you will survive (I myself am *very* experienced at this - I have been betrayed so many times that when it happens, It doesn't even phase me anymore)|


This is all the result of modern *public education,* *academia,* and the *media,* which have rejected traditional Judeo-Christain morality - that has been the only bulwark of sanity and justice in our society| (the unholy trinity)|

They do this by painting a false picture of the traditional way - of its "repressivness" - by *selectively* presenting accounts of it|

Of course there were problems and abuses with the old way, but not nearly to the extent that is portrayed|

The past, although not perfect, was a far happier and a far more just time|

Just consider this: In the past (like in the 50's, and even the 60's and the 70's), did we have all the terrible gang and violence problems that we have today? Did we have the massive breakup of families and all the single mothers living in destitution that we do today?


Of course they talk about patriarchal oppression and the fact that if a woman was raped, it was a terrible shame almost without any recourse to justice - but hey - look at today - never have women been more used and abuse by men as they have today - and rape is now endemic - and do you think they get justice?


I think that the movers and shakers of our society have sold us a bill of goods|

Carrie your answer was horrible. Quite the feminist approach you took to this question, immediately disclaiming that more than "5" false accusations of rape have ever occured. I like that statistical data, very thorough. The truth is, most rape cases are his word against hers, and since rape is such a demoral act in society's eyes, its guilty until proven innocent. Who are you to say that more cases aren't false accusations, theres no way of proving it! As for the motives behind the act of rape, I think its pretty clear, sheesh.

I'd have to say hold legislators (and lawyers) responsible who are making this crap possible.

While rape is a serious crime, it's also a pretty serious accusation to lay on someone.

I also say guys should stay away from certain kinds of girls--like the "brazen hussy" types.

I have a son and today you have to teach them not to stick it in period.

I have witnessed (my own daughters -- not raised by me but my ex) lie get knocked up hide STD's cheet and play who's the dad based on paycheck. And then they pitch rocks at the men they abouse and watch socity support their immoral and in my opinion illegal behavior.

Thank god for DNA tests and honestly American women have got to the point I thing I'll take my son overseas to find a wife.

Next best alternative is a good religious community were women are raised to be GOOD mothers rather than its an OK to Lie tramps.

Just tell your son not to date, carefull screen his girlfriends, run a background check and send a chapparone every whre they go.
