Im about to graduate from high school in a few months, and I still dont know where I want to go to college. But I heard it is smarter to go to community college for 2 years and then transfer to a university. But I want to know if, after 2 years, i could still get into, for example, UC Berkeley, if I came from a state university, for example SF state?? Would that be harder? I just dont want to go to community college.

Community colleges have a much higher transfer rates to UCs than CSUs (depending on the campus, the transfer rate from community colleges is usually twice as much as other 4-year institutions). The reason is because the UCs discourage transfers from other 4-year institutions (you are already getting a college education, make way for other people). While it's not impossible to transfer from CSUs to UCs, if your ultimate goal is to graduate from a UC school, attending a community college is the easiest route (you get better transfer support and resources from your community college).

If you want to transfer to Berkeley, do it from a community college. It's much harder to transfer from a Cal State or UC into Berkeley. The transfer programs were designed primarily with the community college student in mind.

I had a good friend in high school who did just that. Went to JC, stayed super disciplined and got his straight As, and then transferred to Berkeley.

No, doing the transfer route is not fun. You miss a lot of the college experience. However, SF State is not going to be fun either. My sis-in-law works there. Know several people who went to school there. It's really not that much of a step up from a community college. It's night and day from what Berkeley is like.
