I hate to say yes, but I do believe that we are vulnerable. There are recent reports that the Al Qaeda terrorists are regrouping in the mountains of Pakistan, re-establishing their training camps for future terrorists. They are patient, willing to wait until they are able to exploit our weaknesses, and, of course, we still have many. Our border with Mexico is a possible site of entry since we can not even prevent Mexicans from entering our country illegally. Our ports are also problematic because it is apparently impossible to examine all of the merchandise and containers entering the U. S. by ship. Our transportation systems, bridges, nuclear power plants, malls (look what just happened in Salt Lake City) are all potential targets for terrorist attacks. I truly hope that I am wrong and that we are safe here and need not live in perpetual fear, but I lack confidence in our Government's ability to protect us. Additionally, our invasion of Iraq has made us more Islamic enemies...

Depends what you mean, a disaster of that magnitude? A major terrorist attack? An airborne attack? A religious attack?
I suppose that also to answer this question we must look in the grand scheme of things. So in the next 5 years... I'd wager no for everything but the first question. A disaster of that magnitude already occurred with the New Orleans flood, lest you forget.
The next 100 years I'd wager yes, such a strike on the U.S. is not hard to imagine, but it is unlikely it will be airborne, terrorists are not prone to repetition, it is to predictable.

I dont really understand why the person above me was given a thumbs down. He was simply stating his opinion. He did not say anything bad but that is besides the point.
Back to the question, I believe that they key to the issue is Iran. They are the onees causing most of the violence in Iraq. If we dont take him out then yes definently there will be another 9/11 on the scale of a nuclear attack.

on what basis does everyone think the democrats are pro-terror? talk about brainwashing! if youlook into any facts, and ignore the catch-cries, one liners and meaningless slogans of warmongers (repeated over and over in the face of any other options), you would see there is more than one way to fight a battle. what happened to the hearts & minds approach? now it's ..well, hell, let's bomb them back to the stoneage... and that is counterproductive to national security. it's called "blowback", which many argue is the root cause of 9/11 anyway. diplomacy is the only way. terrorists aren't attacking the american way of life, they're attacking the administration's foreign policy! so start getting it right and see what happens. I'm backing the dems for sure.

If the democrats succeed in staging our defeat in Iraq You can count on daily attacks throughout the US because the world will believe we are a paper tiger. Idiots like Pelosi and Murtha are doing more harm to this country than words can express. Two hundred years of progress are about to be destroyed by two months of congress going wild.

No. Impossible. Security is geared up completely and such a mishap can never ever take place again. You need not even think of the possibility of such an event ever happenning again.

If you believe the Bush admin, the answer is absolutely yes. They've spent the past several years telling us this is the case, and have done absolutely zero to tighten our ports and borders since that time.

I think you should rephrase your question. Do you think the extremist nations have crucial disaster, when a tragic event (i.e. 911) happens again? What do you think?

A man who pulls a knife does not have a gun. On 9/11 they pulled a knife, next time they will get a gun!
