They have as good of a shot as anyone. Everyone rips on the starting rotation but really, who do they need to replace? Weaver, Suppan, and, Marquis. Not exactly cy young contenders here. Plus the strong bullpen is stronger and the lineup is also better. If half of last years injured players come back healthy then look for yet another good Cardinal run in the postseason.

Okay, I'm a Cardinals fan, but I'll try to be objective. The odds of the Cards repeating are slim. The team appears weaker, not stronger, after the off-season moves. Also, who was the last team to repeat? See, it doesn't happen very often any more b/c it is so difficult.
And for you goofballs who whine about the Cardinals getting lucky, try to grow up. The St. Louis World Series win in 2006 was legitimate. They weren't a wild card, there was no strike-shortened season, and they didn't advance on some terrible umpiring mistake. The Cardinals won the games that they had to in order to advance. You can't change it, so start accepting it.

Nope, not feelin' it. They lucked into the playoffs.Houston was charging up on them, but fortunately for St. Louis, Houston lost on the last day and the Cardinals backed in. They got lucky against the Mutts, and a rusty Tiger team that had not played in a week. The Cardinals did win the World Series, but they were far from the best team in baseball. There were at least 10 teams better, and things just went their way. Their pitching scares no one, and a repeat is not in the works.

They have a good shot at winning the division, because the NL Central is the worst in baseball. After that the playoffs are a crapshoot, the Cardinals were the best team in baseball a couple of years ago and lost, last year they stumbled down the stretch, barely made the playoffs.
If you can get in, get lucky, get hot, get great pitching you get a ring. I'm just hoping for another exciting season. I will be thrilled when/if the Cards make the playoffs..

I've been a huge Cards fan for many years. Sorry to say there is no way they will make the play offs let alone repeat this year. As usual they did little to nothing to improve the team. More on the nothing side this year. They are one of the best franchises in BB with easily the best fans in the Majors. Too bad the ownership won't spend a little money to improve from time to time. They'd rather pick up other teams scrubs and hope they peak when needed, ie Weaver from last year.

Heck no.
They barely won their division last year. The Astros played poorly early and could not overcome the huge deficit. The Reds were in it until the last week of the season, but had to play hurt the last month. If either of those had not happened they would not have even made the playoffs. The Astros are steady now and the Reds got more pitching and a new SS. The Cards have done nothing to fix their weak bullpen.

No Jeff Weaver, Mark Mulder out for a part of the season, no Jeff Suppan and Jim Edmonds only lightly throwing now in Spring Training doesn't equal a repeat. I have no problem with the Cards but these are just the facts.

No, simply because the NL is deeper this year and if you think about it, there hasn't been a team not named the New York Yankees that have repeated lately. Most recent I can think of other than them is the Blue Jays. Pujols will have a monster year, but I don't think they win it all again although they probably will be in the Series

I am actually feeling a third place NL Central finish for them behind the Cubs and the Astros. No playoffs for the Cardinals this year!

Wouldnt count on it. The NL is a lot better this year, and there are actually some real teams in the AL this year. The Tigers are better, the Twins are better, the Red Sox are rejuvanated and are looking like a potential 100 game winning team.
