I took a pregnancy test last week, and it showed a very bright negative line, and in the spot where a positive line would go it was a very faint red line... So, I decided to take another test and it came back negative. So would my negative one be correct.. or could the faint positive be correct??
I know i know go to the doctor right.. but what kind of advice and opinions can I get from you guys.. before I get to the doctor..

Usually, even a very faint line means pregnancy. False positives are very rare, but false negatives are more common. I'd still say you are pregnant until proven otherwise (blood test done at doctor's office).
Was the second test from the first urination of the morning? That's when it will be most accurate. Was the same brand used for both pregnancy tests? If I were you, I'd retest with first morning urine, and while using the same pregnancy test you used the first time. If that one is negative, I'd still go to the doctor's to be certain.

Hope this helps (and good luck whichever way you want this to turn out!)

The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

I took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? See FAQ 9 above; there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. If you suspect you have a true false positive (meaning you did not conceive and still got a positive

Both lines have to be exact same color to be 100% positive for pregnancy. If the test line was a very bright red and the result line very faint.. I'd say your not pregnant. But also possible your HCG level that goes up when your pregnant and gives the positive result may not have gone up enough for the test to show positive yet.
From my personal experience. When this happens my doctor said wait another week and test again.

Faint, positive lines are normal for negative test results. In fact, negative tests results almost always have a faint line where the positive line should be. So, I am almost positive you are not pregnant.
Just relax if you didn't want to be pregnant, and I am so sorry if you did.

are you sure the first one was a postive test or an evaperated line, meaning it looks like a positive but the whole line isnt pink, red or blue what ever color it may be. most likely if you took another test and it came back neg and this was days after the supposed postive line, you probably arent. but ya you know go to the dr and get it rechecked

The faint pink line appears some times. I've had it happen. Wait a little while and see if your period comes. If not take another one. If your still not sure then make an appionment.

I don't trust home pregnancy tests as there are too many variables that can lead to a false neg or false pos. I would believe the neg one over the false pos though.

A posistive line is a positive line. I would go to the doctor. One of your urine sample could of had more HCG in it then the other
