i'd fix you a cup of chamomille tea, sprinkle your bedding with lavender and sing the wish song to you while i stroked your hair.

Pick up something really boring, like an ancient Greek history or some Tolstoy. When I was in college, the one text that put me to sleep all the time was something by Hegel. Here, try reading this, it'll put you right to sleep:
"The sensuous world, as the sum total of all phenomena, contains at the same time, a series of changes. Every change stands under its condition, under which it is necessary. Now every Conditioned in view of its existence presupposes a perfect series of conditions up to the absolutely Unconditioned, which alone is absolutely necessary. Therefore something absolutely necessary must exist, if change shall exist as its result. This necessary somewhat itself, however, belongs to the sensuous world; for, assume that it exists outside of it, then the series of changes in the world would derive their origin from it, and yet this necessary cause itself would not belong to the sensuous world. Now this is impossible; for since the beginning of a series in time can be determined only through that which precedes it in time, the ultimate condition of the beginning of a series of changes must exist in a time when this series did not as yet exist; hence this ultimate condition belongs to time, and consequently to phenomena or to the sensuous world; therefore there is in the world itself something absolutely necessary."

if you have this problem a lot try taking the over-the-counter supplement called "melatonin" or a "benedryl" allergy pill. both will make you fall asleep in about 30 mins and they are completely safe to take every night!

Drink a big glass of water, and go lie in bed. Think of each peice of your body, starting at your foot...pretend that it's a lightbulb, and crawl up your body, lighting each piece carefully. Keep each piece lit. I'm sure you won't get to your head, before you pass out. My dad used to put me to sleep like that.
