they are new speakers and only play on my new comp. not my win98 even when i put them in the right jack

MY comp only lets the amp work . and it doesnt work any more and it has a sound card

I'm guessing that either
A.) You have them plugged into the Line Out jack instead of the Speaker out.
B.) You don't have the sound on your computer turned up.
C.) You don't have the sound on your speakers turned up / have them powered.
D.) Your sound card is not installed correctly.

I find it difficult to believe that the Win98 computer has a functional sound card/driver. Try using headphones to check.

Update your operating system. Get UBUNTU. It's free, reliable and up to date. Plus all of the software is free too. If your computer has 256MB of RAM get a full version. If less, get XUBUNTU.

also depends if you have a sound card in the CPU. if not, u will have to buy one
