I have lost respect for the field and that I can barely take the whole process seriously anymore, I am so disenchanted with academia. However, I have spent all these years and $$$$$$$$$ and need to finish my PhD and I am willing to do the work and finish. I guess my problem I have an attitude problem that I have not hidden well and now my Profs feel insulted because they sense that I think much of academia is a bunch of nonsense.

you will probably regret not finishing if you don't.. at the very least it is quite an accomplishment to aquire a PhD even if you hate being a nuclear scientist or whatever

Suck it up and be nice until you finish out. Pretend you enjoy it and maybe you will. I guess you went into the wrong field.
