A superlative is a form of the adjective.
Such as: Big, bigger, biggest

Tom is big.
Big is the positive. You posit some thing about an object.

George is bigger.
Bigger is the comparative. You look at two things and see how they compare.

Al is the biggest of all.
Biggest is the superlative, because it always refers to 3 or more items.

Caring, more caring, most caring (superlative) the most you can be of a certain quality.

Sacry, scarier, scariest (The scariest = superlative)

Good luck!

There are three forms of adjectives and adverbs - positive, comparative, and superlative. I'll give you examples of adjectives -
Positive - It is a clear day.
Comparative - compares two things - Today is clearer than yesterday.
Superlative - compares three or more - Of all the days we spent on vacation last week, Thursday was the clearest for boating.

Your examples would be describing the most caring of all - or the scariest of all.

A superlative is when more than two things are being compared. You would use good, better, and best. Best is the superlative.

I believe that superlative refers to the place of term in a word like...
if i say you are fat
then i say you are fatter than me < that's comparitive
then superlative is if i say you are the fattest. b/c it supercedes both fat and fatter.
